Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? – Why the Shakes Work

The older I get the more I learn.  And the more I want to share.  Currently I am learning more about the mind body connection in relation to pain.  There are so many people who are living with chronic illness.

But today I want to write about what I have learned about the impact of our nutrition choices.

This is by no means medical advice and always consult with your trusted medical adviser but I believe that nutrition is a major component to the state of our physical bodies.  Having made changes and experienced the difference, having absorbed information over the last few years, it all makes sense to me.  Nutrition is key in prevention, nutrition is key in reversal and changing our state.

By now if you’ve been reading my blogs you will know that what our bodies need vitamins, minerals, fibre, quality carbohydrates, healthy fats, proteins, amino acids, phytonutrients, and antioxidants.  Unfortunately, what most people consume are unhealthy fats, excess sugar, white flour, excess salt, preservatives, food coloring. People are eating processed foods and our bodies are JUST NOT DESIGNED TO DIGEST THAT CRAP!

But we still eat it and, from the power of the compound effect, suffer the consequences later.  It’s so small and gradual that we don’t notice it until one day we realise that we feel like crap and our favorite jeans don’t fit anymore!!!

Aside from the immediate impact on energy levels with all the highs and lows cycling through the day, over a prolonged period of time our bodies succumb to all sorts of unpleasant issues that impact the quality of our life.  How on earth do we get that energy back that we had when we were kids?

Easy.  Stop eating the crap that we do!  We didn’t eat it when we were kids, we weren’t allowed.  I grew up in an era where we were told to go outside and play and junk food was only consumed on special occasions.

But now we live in a world where we are slowly poisoning our bodies because we aren’t giving them what they need.  Our bodies are stressed, in a constant state of inflammation, whatever that may look like for the individual.

Here is the good news.  We absolutely have the ability to change our state.

Here’s the thing…our bodies are regenerating new cells all the time and old ones are dying off.  The saying “You are what you eat” is 100% true.  If you eat rubbish you will regenerate rubbish cells.  However, if you eat real whole foods (supported by shakes and multivitamins just to top up those nutrients that are deplete in our food supply) your body will get what it needs – vitamins, minerals, fibre, quality carbohydrates, healthy fats, proteins, amino acids, phytonutrients, and antioxidants – to generate new healthy cells.  You’re nourishing your body with foods it is designed to digest and slowly but surely your body will move towards a state of wellness.

So what are you waiting for?

My experience having implemented the shake strategy?  I haven’t been sick since 2014.  I had cold sores for 3 solid months when I first started while my body went through a detox and I’ve had the odd “oh I feel like something is coming on” moment (but nothing eventuated).

Until last year.  I was lethargic, my skin was dry, my nails were brittle, my hair was dry.  I couldn’t understand the lack of energy even though I was consistent with my shakes.  So I did some detective and realised I was low in my iron stores.  Which made sense because I had cut out meat 12 months beforehand and hadn’t really thought to figure out where to make sure I was getting iron from.  Duuuuuuummmmmbbb!!!!

But once I knew what I was dealing with I was able to work out what foods I needed to consume more of (thank you dark chocolate, yes please you can join the party ?) and made sure I had 2 shakes and 3 multivitamins a day which would give me half of my RDI as a non meat eating woman of child bearing age.  This little change made a world of difference to my energy levels in the first week and over the next month or so I observed the changes in my skin, hair, and nails too.  The power of giving your body what it needs.

Note:  My iron stores were low but I was NOT anemic.  Always be guided by your trusted medical professional, do your homework, ask questions, and make the choice that is best for you.  I made the choice to change my state through only nutrition as I wanted to do it without prescription medication, but that’s me.  Everyone should do what feels right to them.

Don’t take my word for it though. Try it out for yourself, see what happens for you in just 5 days with our low cost trial either at our Lower Hutt Based Smoothie Club or from the comfort of your own home.

Did this help you? If yes please feel free to share on Facebook.
